Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
Whole of life support and advice and respite is lacking and puts immense pressure on families and the Person with a disability. There is no compasion in the current system and we as taxpayers should be responsable by providing this through the NDIS Proposal. From Education to Medical Care disabled people, who can be great contributors to society, are pushed sideways and adequate support is lacking. Community Education as to the abilities and needs of Disabled Persons is lacking. Excessive Red Tape and form filling in is one of the barriers, essentially driven by a bureaucratic system, has gone overboard and needs to be streamilned.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, More rights for people with a disability, Less red tape, with planning done locally by people who know their community, Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Employment support, Support for families and carers, Case management, planning and coordination, Crisis and emergency support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
We believe it is a public responsability and only the Federal Government can initiate this as a Taxpayers funded community care and responsability aspect of providing all services for thos in need in the Special Needs, disabled community. The Proposed Scheem should be broadened to include for all finite aspects of handicap and disability, as at this time it is not broad enough to cover many debilitating aspects of mankind.
It is Humanities responsability to look after their fellow human beings and provide for them to allow them to achieve a pereived normal life, with all the assistance towards this outcome.
