Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
It doesnt work because of many reasons, basic human rights for one, no one choses to live with a disability, and we should not have to feel we are less a citizen because of this and have a lower quality of life. Its like being racist but against those who suffer the most in life. I have worked so hard to get support and keep getting pushed to work which id love to but dont get the other support like health, proper home care, equipment and things that would fill my life besides tv which then leads to mental illness. Get all the other services fixed and then work at helping us get to work, the order is all wrong, spend some money and know in the long run it will make money when we work but on the path there we actiallyy get quality of life.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, More rights for people with a disability, People with a disability can plan their lives and pursue their goals and dreams
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Therapy and allied health services, Equipment and home/vehicle modifications, In-home care and domestic assistance
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
because it is a step in recognising a part of the community, our friends loved ones and letting them kniw we are here for them and willing to spend some money to help achive a decent life not one just.of suffering
