Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing
Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
Disability is such a big area.So many problems and all pay levels are the same and some people need more help weather it is one on one care or help with bills that come up due to there heath.There is no safety net for this type of thing eg you may have to go out of town to see a specialist you end up so out of pocket and now that people have to pay for there glassers again thats just not money that is allowed for in the disability payment.It needs to be like a gov run private health fund so if you pay you can get the money back and there is a record of what the money has been spent on and a fund bank that you can tack dr ref ect that you can get help with travle and the visti medie care is just not dose not do the job the caps are still to higth.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
People with a disability can choose the types of support to use, Removal of age barriers to services for children, Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Therapy and allied health services, Equipment and home/vehicle modifications, Flexible in-home/outside home respite
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
the old way does not give prorper pay for there needs
