Please consider this email a formal submission by me to the Senate Standing
Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
People require individual support and assistance, this is not the way the current system is operating. The NDIS will give people options that suit their requirements.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, More rights for people with a disability, The ability to receive services when needed and in the way that suits the person
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Therapy and allied health services, Life-skills, Crisis and emergency support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I work in the Disability Industry and understand how frustrating it is for people not being able to access individual assistance and support. The NDIS will at least give people other options that they don’t currently have.
