Committee on Community Affairs Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance
Scheme Bill 2012.
The current disability system has many problems that need to be addressed.
i was fortunate. They told my parents I would not live when I was born, but I did but I have celebary and cannot use my left hand. When they tested me to see if I could to go to a normal school my parents were told NO,He will have to a Spastic school. There is no one in my eathly family but also from birth have had a disabled family.
The main features of the NDIS that will make a difference to the community are:
Ensure support and equipment is available when needed, More employment of people with disability and less reliance on social welfare, Older parents and families will not worry what happens when they can no longer provide support
The most important services for the NDIS to provide are:
Therapy and allied health services, Support for families and carers, Crisis and emergency support
I support the introduction of the NDIS.
I know my parents they had more exepenses with me taking in Camperdomn Hospital twice a week , hospial expenses. These days- 60 years later the populaton there is many more with diabilities, support goups now. When IO was at High School I had trouble with did not me there but withNDIS could also students at school Education Support
