Our ref:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Integrated disAbility Action Inc {ldA) was formed in 1996 as the Northern Territory {NT) Peak

Consumer Organisation for Territorians with disability.

ldA’s objective is to empower people with a disability to take control and direction over their own lives by providing support and information to people with a disability, their families, carers, guardians

and support people through the provision of quality information, timely referral, support and

advocacy.

We work to positively influence government and non-government organisations at local, Territory and National levels on policy and service development agendas impacting on people with disability, their families, carers, guardians and support people

We are pleased to have the opportunity to comment and give feedback on this submission.

ldA fully endorses the Australian Governments National Disability Insurance Scheme Savings Fund

Special Account Bill 2016 to protect underspends and specific savings from across government, such as the much talked about plebiscite, locking them in as forward contributions to the NDIS. A ‘future fund’ to hold Commonwealth contributions will ensure all Territorians with a disability will be able to contribute and participate in their community of choice without the fear of being a burden on the welfare system.

We understand the bill establishes a new ongoing special account known as the National Disability Insurance Scheme Savings Fund Special Account to assist the Commonwealth to meets its funding obligations in relation to the National Disability Insurance Scheme 2013.

A voice and support network for people with disability

As demands grows for the NDIS in the Northern Territory, particularly in regional, remote and very remote Aboriginal communities, with various loadings to provide essential life services, we feel it is essential that any funding shortfalls are addressed ensuring that our members continue to receive the care and support they and their families need.

Integrated disAbility Action Inc, support this submission.

Yours faithfully

Susan Shearer
