Submission 1022 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1022

To Community Affairs Legislation Committee,

Please submit this email as my submission regarding the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

My background: I am a 40 year old woman living with a neurological illnesses. I am an NDIS participant due to my illnesses.

Submission: My main concern regards the parts of the Bill that tighten eligibility. Mark Butler in his press conference said that the NDIS will come down to 600,000 participants with these new changes. Currently there are 760,000. This means that approximately 160,000 will loose eligibility to the NDIS after being reassessed with the new measures. I’m extremely concerned about those 160,000 and I’m worried I could be one of the people that loose funding on a personal level as well after the new assessment tool is rolled out to existing participants. There are no other disability services in NSW and I understand other states similarly wound up their disability supports when the NDIS was rolled out. I find it hurtful that people are being cut from the NDIS just to save the government money. There are so many other ways the government can save money. It shouldn’t be by pushing those most vulnerable into dangerous situations where they aren’t getting the care that they need to survive. I find the whole situation ableist. There’s no way the government would be cutting funding to Non disabled people in this way. They wouldn’t try it with aged care just kicking people off aged care services knowing they were in need of services. I watched the budget speech and I heard the government are trying to go back to a surplus eventually however this is not the way. No matter how dire things get. To cut services to 160,000 people with disabilities is inhumane and dangerous.

Thanks for considering my submission.

Kind Regards
