National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1024

Submission to the Senate inquiry NDIS amendment 2026

To whom it may concern

Today I write to you on a personal basis but also as a volunteer disability advocate for the many NDIS participants that I support

As most will agree that the NDIS needs reform and reviewing to make it sustainable into the future,

I personally have been working on this through the Safeguarding commission and reporting dodgy practices and wrongful actions by providers,

I strongly believe that the NDIS has changed so many lives for the better since its inception,

But with any proposal of change to improve the system we don’t want to see all this good undone

The proposed changes to reducing each participant’s social and community access funding is not acceptable, this will affect me a lot personally as I use my support hours to participate in para sports representing Australia which aids my mental health as well as my physical health, this aids me to be well enough to volunteer out in the community

The reduction of support funding for many will remove the change to work or participate in their community as fully as they can

Some of the new funding proposed to support community won’t help as it’s already being removed from many organisations causing massive changes or closures already and new funding not due until 2028

Please stop this proposal and get the government to make cuts or finding fraud in the right spots to recover excess blow outs above the budget

This is not being caused by most participants

All the other proposed changes are good and should help solve the problem
