National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1061
I write to you with grave concerns regarding the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill. The changes outlined by the current government threaten to dismantle the hard-won rights and dignity of people with disabilities.
As someone who deeply values equity and inclusion, I cannot remain silent as these reforms push vulnerable individuals toward greater marginalization. The proposed cuts to social and community participation, coupled with restricted provider choices, will strip away autonomy—reducing people with disabilities to passive recipients rather than active participants in their own lives.
The bill risks resurrecting a dark era where people with disabilities were institutionalized, abused, and erased from public life. The NDIS, despite its flaws, has been transformative, ensuring visibility, agency, and belonging. We cannot regress.
I urge the committee to:
Reject all cuts to community participation and support.
Guarantee appeal rights, ensuring transparency in decision-making.
Protect provider choice, allowing both registered and unregistered options.
Passing this bill would betray the most vulnerable among us. Do not let history repeat itself.
Sincerely,
