Concerns regarding impact on patients' physical and mental health (Provider experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1131

To Whom it may concern,

My name is_, I am a physiotherapist and NDIS provider from Melbourne.

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the newly proposed NDIS amendment bill and request that you please do not pass the NDIS Amendment Bill in its current form. It removes rights, reduces choice and control, and will harm people with disability in my community

The NDIS is a vital support for disabled individuals in my community and for my patients. It allows them to remain a part of their local communities, improves their quality of life, and provides disabled individuals an opportunity to be independent in their activities of daily living.

If my patients didn’t have access to the NDIS many of them would physically deteriorate, many would have deteriorations in mental health and many others would become a burden on the public healthcare system with more falls or other health complications winding them up in hospital.

I am worried that the passing of this bill would reduce my patients autonomy over their lives, result in physical deterioration and impact their mental health due to lack of supports and social isolation.

The bill in it’s current form is harmful and should not be passed by parliament. Further consultation with NDIS participants, carers and providers should be undertaken to best support our community members with disability.

Many Thanks,
