Submission 1205 — Name Withheld — NDIS Future Generations Bill

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1205

Submission on the “Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill 2026”

I am writing here to express my concern on how this will affect individuals currently accessing the NDIS for benefits. How will this bill affect them? It seems that many people will be kicked off of NDIS, and the restrictions around getting on the NDIS will be made stricter. Why is this the case? This bill will make the lives of disabled people so much harder in this country. Hundreds of thousands of people will be cut off from the NDIS, and where does this government expect them to go? The NDIS is the only major support system for disabled people in this country (to the best of my knowledge) and the people that will be cut off because of this bill won’t have anywhere to go to get benefits. These people are already struggling so much in this country with the cost of living and housing crisis, and cutting them off NDIS will just make it so much harder for them. Most of them can’t work, and if they get cut off then they won’t be able to afford to live anymore, they’ll have to spend any money they have left on supports to have just a basic life, or they’ll have to rely on someone else like a partner or family member to support them. The NDIS has already been incredibly difficult to get on, as I have seen with my family members that have spent over 2 years trying to get on NDIS, and even when they get on, they barely get any funding, barely even enough for a support worker. Does this government really care about the people of this country if this is how it’s willing to treat the disabled? Is forcing them off the NDIS and forcing them to rely on their family members a good solution for this country that thinks it’s spending “too much” on the NDIS? This bill should be blocked from passing parliament or changed into something that will actually make the lives of disabled people better like giving them more funding.
