Concerns about assessment processes for autistic people (Participant experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1224

Submission for the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a disabled person and NDIS participant. The NDIS has helped me to access

education, have community participation, and transportation to be able to access

services and medical appointments.

I am concerned about this Bill causing disabled people to lose and/or be denied

support they need. Current assessment processes and eligibility criteria already

prevent disabled people from accessing support they need, harsher processes will

cause further harm, especially for autistic people when assessors don’t have

comprehensive understanding of how needs fluctuate and the extent of how

disabling autism and other disabilities can be.

I do not support this bill because it will harm people I care about by denying them

the supports they need and focuses on the wrong issues.

Thank you for your time spent reading my submission.
