National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1303
To whom it may concern, I am writing to express worries about the major cuts to the NDIS bill. I am not the best at writing but I will try my best. I have level 2 autism, I have severe ADHD, chronic severe depression, anxiety and major social difficulties. Under the NDIS, I have been able to access therapy, social groups for people like me, and an exercise program. Without these supports, I would probably still be in bed all day every day, unable to take care of myself or anyone else. I would be doing nothing to contribute to society. I want to. But to do so, I need support, and the major cuts, especially because it’s not just a little bit, scares me very much. My mental health would decline and therefore my physical health also. And it’s not just me. There are many people in the disabled community who are worried about these cuts. And what about the ones who can’t even advocate for themselves because of their disability? This is extremely unfair to put it bluntly. If these cuts go forward, you will be letting thousands of people down, if not kill them. I have little doubt in my mind that suicide rates will surely rise, and the physically disabled will not be able to access the support they need to stay alive. This is not about letting people have what they want, it’s about what they NEED. We just want to survive. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you for reading.
