National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1370 - Supplementary Submission
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to strongly express the critical importance of NDIS Support Coordination for participants living with disabilities and complex support needs.
Support Coordinators play a vital role in ensuring that NDIS participants are not left struggling alone within a complicated and overwhelming system. Many participants and families face significant challenges understanding their plans, accessing appropriate services, managing providers, and advocating for their rights. Without proper coordination, participants are at serious risk of service gaps, isolation, mental stress, and declining wellbeing.
An NDIS Support Coordinator is not simply an optional service — it is an essential lifeline that empowers participants to fully utilise their funding, build independence, and achieve meaningful goals. Coordinators provide professional guidance, crisis management, service navigation, and ongoing advocacy that directly improves participants’ quality of life.
Removing or limiting access to Support Coordination can have devastating consequences for vulnerable individuals, especially those with psychosocial disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and high-complexity needs. Participants deserve fair access to professional support that ensures safety, dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity within the community.
The NDIS was designed to provide choice, control, and empowerment. However, without effective Support Coordination, many participants are unable to genuinely access these fundamental principles. Strong investment in Support Coordination is an investment in participant wellbeing, stability, and long-term success.
I sincerely urge decision-makers to recognise the immense value of Support Coordinators and continue supporting this essential service for all eligible participants.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
