National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1383

I am a ndis participant and a person with a disability.

I am worried about this Amendment Bill and the harm it will cause everyone in Australia. I am having trouble finding clear easy to understand language about this Amendment and I cannot find an official Auslan translation either. I feel this is wrong and excluded and discrimination.

The NDIS is for people to disability to live ordinarily lives. Changing it and kicking people like me off will cost more and cause much harm. My live has changed for the better because of NDIS and this doesn’t mean I should be kicked off cause people have limited understanding of disability being for life and that support is required for life. The expectation to not need support shows none of you understand disability. People being able to work doesn’t mean that cant have NDIS. NDIS was meant to be for life and about SUPPORT! Not welfare! So the fact you have done a media scare and turned the public against NDIS and calling us welfare and burdens upsets me.

I am a deaf person that had ZERO interpreter funding funded in my plan. I had to appeal and this took 6 months. This left me without medical care, without access to my language and with no limited supports. This has affected me greatly. If you change the rules to not allow decisions to be challenged, you are breaking human rights and breaking the original spirit of the scheme. Making things stricter and less flexible will cost more money in the long term as people cannot use the funding flexibly to meet their needs. cutting funding to the community = people will die as they cannot access dr appts (WHICH ARE IN THE COMMUNITY). You are breaching the human rights obligations and this is WRONG! Cutting funding roll over funding means that people cannot spend more if they need more support as support needs can fluctuate and change over time and the NDIS takes WAY too long to grant additional funding. the ndis was supposed to be whole of person approach and this is best practice to ensure best outcomes. Changing it to only specific things means that thigns wont work as a human being cannot be split into separate categories and you cannot be well supported or know which “impairment” comes from what when there are multiple reasons for “impairment”.

The new functional capacity independent assessment is WRONG! You have already been denied to do this and now you are trying again. Re read everything from last time and stop doing this. A new person takes AGES to understand me. It takes many many hours before a full understanding of me and my needs happens. This wont happen from a brand new person in an assessment. My needs wont be captured and it wont be valid.

there are no “foundation supports” every other service is time limited or only for specific age groups. Disability is for life, doesn’t matter if its mild or sereve. Which means there needs to

be LIFELONG supports available to everyone with a disability. The current push to “improve” doesn’t take reality into consideration.

I am scared for my future and have no hope for the future, as the government and media keep demonising us, and keep cutting support and services for me to have one. I am fed up with fighting. I am fed up with having to justify m life all the time, when I was told this would not happen. I was told that you don’t need to fight every year. Yet this is what is happening, requiring fights is a waste of money, and you are spending more money fighting that could be used for supports, which will benefit everyone. Every dollar spent returns back to the economy.
