Submission to the Senate Inquiry – NDIS Amendment(Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
I am writing as the parent and full-time carer of a child with significant disability support needs. I want the committee to understand what daily life can look like for families caring for children with complex behaviours, high-intensity care needs, restrictive practices already in place.

I am also deeply concerned that if appropriate NDIS supports are reduced or denied, it will significantly isolate our family from the community. Without adequate high-intensity supports, safe staffing behaviour support and respite everyday activities outside home may become impossible due risks associated L redacted escalating behaviours essential bowel care needs This affects quality life participation but impacts siblings carers who increasingly socially isolated.
Also believe failing provide disability early ultimately create greater long-term costs government Without adequately funded there real risk L redacted escalates point requiring prolonged hospital admissions crisis interventions Hospital systems already under pressure far more expensive providing preventative disability through first place Supporting families properly safer humane cost-effective broader system.
Ask committee ensure reforms:
- protect participants complex behaviors with high intensity care needs - recognise impact on carers siblings do not narrow so severely lose essential assistance maintain access to specialist behaviour support respite recognising informal has limits especially where safety involved Children deserve dignity proper support Their families deserves support prevent crisis rather than waiting until can no longer cope Thank you considering submission.
