National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 1456
The NDIS was founded on principles of choice and control. These changes undermine those principles and place vulnerable children into systems that may not be suitable for them. I am scared because any reduction in social or community-based supports would have devastating consequences for my children. My eldest child requires 1:1 supervision to safely leave the home and engage with the community.Without this support:
- He will become isolated at home
- He will lose opportunities for meaningful social interaction
- His skills will regressHe loves people. He wants to engage. But without appropriate support.he will be confined to ourhome.watching Peppa Pig and The Wiggles.on repeat.becoming further disconnected fromtheoutside world.This.is.not.humane.I.am.scared.because.the.reduction.in.capacity-building.supports.will.have.long-term.consequencesnot.only.for.my.children.but.also.for.the.system.as.a.whole.

The idea that mainstream systems can replace NDIS-funded supports is simply not grounded in reality. The infrastructure does not exist. People do not exist. Transport to these locations does not exist. Thriving Kids will take away support before a plan has even been proposed as how these supports will work. Without significant investment development, these changes will leave children without access critical serivces. I am just writing another number, I beg reconsider these changes or at least seek real consultation from people who are carers disabled, ad hoc week submission period after proposal.I exhausted frightened heartbroken.Every night go bed wondering continue care under increasingly broken system. The most painful truth I can share this: At lowest point found myself wishing son pass because cannot see future where he safe supported cared for me.No parent should ever feel way. This happens when designed vulnerable Australians instead creates fear instability exhaustion.Key RecommendationsProvide clear stable transparent guidance on all NDIS changes implementationPreserve true choice control including access non-registered providersMaintain funding individualised supports particularly complex needsProtect and expand capacity-building Invest allied health services shifting responsibility mainstream systemsDo change permanence defined act ableist harmful use semantics.Recognise address growing crisis of carer burnoutThank you considering my submission opportunity share lived reality families mine.Regards
