To those that will listen, I am a disabled woman married to another disabled man; four children are also disabled. Prior to receiving support from the NDIS scheme our lives have been very difficult. We faced many challenges but after its rollout in my area I saw hope on what seemed like an endless horizon though there wasn’t always smooth sailing with tears shed along way. At one point ready give up care profoundly autistic son until he finally got plan supporting needs which turned around everything. The supports provided not only helped us cope better, allowing neither of use apply ourselves again but allowed return full-time work previously relying Centrelink carers pension. If lost these supports government cost would be far worse two adult children needing move into supported living while younger ones require more attention. Giving up public service desk job demanding than home looking after them would lead decline own health as well. asides making life easier they’ve given us hope too! Children thrived intensive therapy young still much disabled functioning higher level thanks therapies received non-verbal child learnt speak went total continence now night time accidents without such treatments their current support needs even greater now. do no support this bill! cut social and community participation by half dramatically affect young adults already isolated prior finding needed supports mental health declined hospital admissions suicide attempts once found improved drastically feel connected communities fear if cuts made quickly revert back how it was costing system lot when we’re back those admissions Self-management also important regional limited available workers registering lose money worth few hours client, to appeal decision being taken away absurd my totally incontinent (not at age primary school) first NDIS plan $3000 year total wouldn’t cover nappies for whole year had chance to do so person covering appeal disgrace told me won’t cover nappy just lazy parenting knowing that child older siblings all toilet trained appropriate ages They did lose their jobs were
