Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a disabled person, with recent access to NDIS supports.

My main concern about this Bill is the way it will affect me, my friends and my community directly.

This Bill may affect me due to the proposed;

• Harsh administration restrictions, cutting community support and contact flexibility.

I rely on the NDIS support for community access extremely regularly, without the support I need in the community I find navigating and exploring the world causes great difficulty with my disability. I wouldn’t be as functional as I am today if this is cut. The administrative restrictions will cause me more stress than they already do. It was prohibitively difficult for me to strongly prove my disability is enough for government support. This took years as the many many reports take a very long time to acquire due to the disability itself also the waiting times of medical professionals.

What I want the committee to understand is the NDIS does help thousands of Australians and cutting the budget and implementing harsher rules will do the opposite, it will inhibit so many people who are just trying to live their life as independently as we can. Any important changes you make to the NDIS should be discussed with a wide range of disabled people, to make it the best it can be.

I do not support this bill because, I am scared, for what it will affect in my everyday life and afraid for my friends and community. We deserve to not fear our life’s but to embrace it.
