National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 1495
This year, I have managed to run two community events (a writing event at my local library via Facebook group), and a trivia night for the Leukaemia Foundation at my local volleyball club. I’ve also started studying a certificate 2 in Auslan interpreting, and I’d really like to do a certificate 3 next semester. Absolutely none of this would have been possible without my NDIS supports because:
- Without them: Burnt out from full-time work due to executive function failure; unable to sort through tasks or handle stress/timeline; Without cleaners helping with chores removed bodily stress as cleaning products gave me headaches & repetitive motions resulted in chronic pain flare-ups, or therapist help understanding communication pitfalls during these activities based on preferences to break down goals into actionable steps, pRACTICING phone calls so had proper script questions needed answered, helping drive places suitable if they were not already known. Even before changes announced access barrier was incredibly difficult since diagnosis age three submitted multiple supporting documents including high school university reports stating need external assistance to function initially denied when trying myself because disability/goals wording believed necessary by NDIS. No full time job struggled with communication paying support completely out pocket resulting higher financial costs compared currently abled friends. The proposed NDIS changes actively continue perpetuate disadvantages held disabled people making harder accessing appropriate support How someone able afford treatment something expensive if disabled point cannot work? You supposed take care family loved ones while needing working full time salary SUPPORT?
The NDIS at initial conception good first step removing stigma relating disabilities and properly supported communities social systems suppose work - Making the NDIS cover less, hard accessible use you continue cycle hopelessness exhaustion human difference The NDIS should have more regulation providers NOT who NEEDS.

If a small group of people want to do something to cause harm, we do not punish those
who aren’t doing harm — or, for those who do insurance fraud (merge in front of people)
annd slam on the breaks; falsify damage reports fo unowned items, launder money o
commit other crimes), do we then just say that insurance itself is the problem? That
people should not have access to it to help themselves?
No. If there is a problem with the NDIS being used for fraud, he issue iis those perpetuating fraud –not thoses whho need accesst ot hee NDIS.
And,further– I would rather deal wth lower barrier entry foor Disabled peopple,
even if means tiny percentage participants are ““false”” particpants than make harder taccess.
Disabled people will cut out But falsifying data to accecss program will noot.Additionally this seems dispropotionally target participants rther than providers.I want my taxes hhelp friends neighbours and enemies. Idon’t wannt million-dollar missile when cost our country -for ouur country composed abled disabled neurotypical ndurodivergent poor rich middle class supporting all of our people shouold be first priority.
