My name is , . We offer a 1:1 Peer Mentor service in the Geelong region for NDIS participants. Through our service, we work closely with participants to support their independence, community engagement, confidence, and overall quality of life. I am also deeply invested in the future of the disability sector and the wellbeing of the people who rely on these supports every day.

Due to the limited timeframe available for submissions regarding this proposed Bill, I have not been able to provide the level of detail I would have preferred. However, I felt it was important to formally express my strong opposition to the Bill in its current form.

Over the course of my work within the NDIS, I have personally witnessed the positive impact the scheme can have when participants are provided with appropriate, person- centred supports. I have seen individuals gain confidence, build meaningful social connections, access their communities safely, pursue education and employment opportunities, and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing through consistent support services.

I am deeply concerned about the impact these proposed changes may have on participants, families, and the disability workforce. In particular, I am concerned about the potential reduction or removal of community access funding and other essential supports that many participants rely on to maintain independence and social inclusion. These supports are not luxuries - they are critical components of participant wellbeing, social inclusion, and building capacity for participants.

I am also concerned about the increased powers proposed within the Bill that may allow funding decisions to be made with reduced transparency and oversight. Decisions that
