Submissions on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the

NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Fen Spencer Introduction: I’m an NDIS participant, enrolled under AS level D3. Over three years since joining, passing review dates has led me into rollover periods of twelve months each time. Prior employment became unsustainable after experiencing breakdowns due to catastrophic burnout and cognitive issues following access to NDIS services which had previously kept me housebound—appointments were rare except visits to pharmacies—and social contacts minimal despite having maintained groups before diagnosis. Unable to manage basic life functions like hygiene or nutrition without assistance from OT/Physiotherapy funding provided through NDIS support, fear exists that removal would lead back towards isolation if these supports are stripped away.

It seems like those making these decisions aren’t medical professionals and don’t have a career backgrounds. Its understandable that not everyone knows the ins and outs of disabilities, have been in place since 90 days without answer being refused or no deemed refusal is ridiculous. The increase from permanent review purgatory. it’s unbelievable irresponsible. is vital. If this abused would be easy way around having ever address anything. Thirdly needing tried failed every single treatment before accessing NDIS concern. treatments ASD cure it feels another purgatory trap people access treatments without access NDIS creates loop. My other disability life threatening worsen allowed This losing social sphere could genuine medical harm dumped off scheme can keep told NDIA thousands dollars come back them barely managed make up $4000 diagnosed with ASD simply money fact expected funding will kill them. Personal impact: i’m afraid support coordination work affected need coordinator understand funding scheme manage schedules check goals cognitive ability to do on own if cut wouldn’t able managing any using my which may look further proof i don’t need it. on emotional note finally got point where feel human again leave house just started rug pulled out Recommendations: ultimately changes shouldn’t implemented. There has to be consideration for the reality of access, especially for disabled people. You are dealing with peoples whose ability to access things is already less than the average person. All of this responsibility can’t be put onto the people accessing the NDIS. As far as the cuts to community and social access bring concernsonhumanrights.
