Submission 1646: (Provider experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission 1646

To the Senate Committee,

I am a disability support worker and have had the privilege of supporting for the past five years. In that time, I have accompanied her on weekly community outings, to museums, galleries, parks, and other public spaces, and have seen firsthand how important NDIS-funded social and community participation is to her quality of life, independence, wellbeing, and connection with others. I am writing because I am deeply concerned about the proposed 50% cut to this funding category.

For , this funding is not a bonus or a luxury, it is the foundation of her social life. has Cri du Chat syndrome and the funding that currently pays for our weekly time_..together is what keeps her connected to the world around her.

is a warm, engaged, and enthusiastic person who genuinely thrives in community settings. She loves meeting people, exploring new places, and having someone to talk to and share experiences with. Over five years I have watched her light up on our outings,-she participates eagerly in everything we do and clearly values the social connection deeply. thrives when she is out in the community. Our weekly outings provide her with companionship, routine, stimulation, and an important social connection. At the same- time, she does need support, she sometimes needs guidance with time management and navigating and transporting to unfamiliar places. Without funded support, those outings simply would not happen. For , removing or reducing this funding would have a significant negative impact on her wellbeing and would likely increase her loneliness, social isolation, confidence, and connection to the community.Without this funding, her opportunities to participate in-meaningful activities outside the home would be significantly reduced.

life is richer, safer, and more connected because of this support, and it is crucial that she is able to continue receiving it.-

Kind regards,
