RE: NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

My name is and I have been an NDIS participant since its inception, and was supported through DSC before that. I have an intellectual disability and am being supported to write this letter by my NDIS-funded psychosocial recovery coach, who is part of an incredible team supporting me.

I have recently become increasingly concerned with the direction of the NDIS for the following reasons:

• Discrimination: Hearing about a portion of NDIS participants potentially being exited from access to the NDIS
• Funding cuts: Building capacity and independence requires a certain amount of assistance, and often for an extended period as progress can be protracted. Cuts to funding may see delays in capacity building among the disabled population, or worse - lives at risk.
• Perceptions of Australia: The NDIS has so far been an initiative with an overall positive impact for people with disabilities around Australia. The potential upcoming changes may see a step backwards here.

I would like to plead with the Government that proposed changes to the NDIS involving increased funding cuts or exiting people from the scheme be strongly reconsidered.

In my view, increased auditing to specifically tackle fraud within the NDIS - rather than blanket cuts - would see greater success in streamlining the current system. Potentially people with disabilites could be involved in a team to assist in identifying and tackling fraud within the system.
