National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1772

Submission to the Senate Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme

Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Friday, May 29th, 2026 To Committee, We submit this together as an individual with multiple complex disabilities alongside my mother.

We express deep concern regarding changes made under consideration which could have devastating effects on individuals living within a state’s jurisdictional boundaries who possess impairments affecting daily life activities such as mobility, communication skills, cognitive abilities among others; alongwith their families.

Prior to implementation of NDIS our family had been slipping through cracks due lack adequate services & meaningful support despite having high level needs associated with various conditions including but not limited too: multiple complex disabilities; sleep apnea requiring BiPAP ventilator use; central sleep apnoea necessitating continuous positive airway pressure ventilation via BiPAP machine; hydrocephalus managed using VP shunt placement procedure; epilepsy controlled by four distinct medications administered regularly throughout day; difficulty in reading and writing tasks; impaired hearing ability needing bilateral cochlear implants; inability to perform self-care functions independently like eating or dressing up themselves without assistance from caregivers. These are lifelong medical requirements that demand constant attention towards ensuring quality care at all times while maintaining dignity amidst challenges posed thereby.

Despite these difficulties we remain hopeful about future prospects for improved accessibilities provided by NDIS program enabling us better manage personal lives more effectively than before. We believe every diagnosis represents human being seeking inclusion into society where they can contribute meaningfully regardless age group involved therein.
