Submission to the Senate Inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

My name is , and I am writing as a friend and community member connected to someone involved in disability support and community facilitation.

Through my connection with her, I have seen how important inclusive community spaces can be for people living with disability. I have witnessed the value of spaces that encourage movement, creativity, emotional expression, and genuine human connection.

These experiences may seem small from the outside, but they can deeply support confidence, wellbeing, belonging, and participation in everyday life.

I understand there is a need for the NDIS to be financially sustainable. At the same time, I hope decisions about funding and reforms will continue to recognise the human side of support and the importance of community participation.

I believe meaningful connection, creativity, and inclusive spaces are not luxuries. For many people, they are an important part of living with dignity, safety, and quality of life.

As someone observing and learning more about this community, I respectfully ask that the lived experiences of people with disabilities, carers, facilitators, and support networks are listened to carefully during this process.
