National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 1803
My name is redacted , I currently work with an NDIS provider and have worked in this space for 2 years. 5 months months . During my short time in the NDIS, increase space I have seen first-hand the impact of can have across participants in Support Work and Behaviour support space and strongly oppose this bill.
My concerns about this bill are two-fold -
Changes to minister power:
NDIS funding based individual needs assessments reports completed clinicians The assessment process gruelling families can result denial despite evidence Labour planning allow Minister cut entire categories scheme without considering individual needs This a gross overreach minsterial power.
Functional Capacity:Currently our NDIS Act has no formal definition functional capacity determination through clinician’s report proposal creating standardised criteria completely flattens complexities living disability Socio-cultural factors influence how manifests exacerbated access support Through creating standardised tools, who should be able accessing will unable it.
I want committee understand that not one-size-fits-all category Two individuals could same diagnoses but different lived experiences social cultural contexts such race gender sexual orientation class education. Want understanding these factors presentation their practitioners overall access if government pass directly lives people die parents commonly women forced take unpaid care gaps where NDIS stepping into.
Do not support Bill shifts focus fraud participants rather than focusing regulating providers vulnerable taking advantage.
