Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

I am a: Friend of disabled people and a community member.

My main concern about this Bill is:

These changes will impact people with disabilities who have been able to build a system of support through NDIS funding that allows them to live a full and good life by implementing mandatory registration for support works and cutting funding for social and community participation.

The money ‘saved’ through cuts will inevitably be spent in downstream settings such as hospitals. This is not only about the fact that the money will be spent anyway, but that much unnecessary suffering will have been experienced as the costs flow down stream. The most vulnerable groups in our community are having their access to autonomous self-determined support curtailed because of a political logic of ‘sustainability’.

What I want the committee to understand is:

That these cuts will have real and significant impacts on people with disabilities, reducing their quality of life and ability to live autonomous, fulfilling lives.

My position on this Bill:

I do not support this bill​
