NDIS Future Generations Bill

My name is Carolyn Garth. I am writing to the committee because I oppose the new bill. I am extremely concerned about the changes that the Labor government is proposing to the NDIS. As a member of society who values the lives of people with disabilities. The changes that this government is proposing are unfair and will put the safety and lives of people with disabilities at risk. It will take away their choices and control over their lives and their right to access the community.

I implore the committee to protect the rights of the most vulnerable people in the community.

• Reject the changes and the proposed cuts to reduce social and community participation
• Ensure that people with disabilities have the right to review and appeal decisions
• Choice and control is ensured by allowing people the right to use the providers they choose, be it registered or unregistered

Allowing these changes to the NDIS, will mean taking disabled people back to the BAD old days where they were considered to be a burden and were hidden from society. A time that we have learnt many people were neglected and worse abused. The current system whilst not perfect means that disabled people are just another member of our society, they can contribute, be seen & valued.

Please consider these concerns and do not pass the NDIS Future Generations Bill as in its current form it is harmful and should not be passed by parliament
