Lived experience support worker opposes changes impacting vulnerable people (Participant experience)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 1810

I am making this submission as a lived experience support worker, working with several persons living with disability; all whom would become worse off if those changes were made. I deeply oppose these proposals due to far-reaching negative impacts on them, as they struggle daily without additional pressure from new regulations; such increases cause undue strain upon our community’s weakest members. The suggested modifications regarding adherence standards and interactions seem absurdly disconnected to me—ignoring entirely what truly matters: meeting individualized requirements effectively. Moreover, there’s little confidence we can rely even further into such systems when recent revelations indicate outsourcing critical tasks to private entities like Serco. This bill seems designed not just to save costs but also potentially endangering lives already fragile enough.
