I am making this submission as a lived experience support worker, working with several people living with disability, all of whom will be worse off if the proposed changes to this bill are made.

I am deeply concerned to read of the changes being proposed due to the far-ranging negative impacts these changes will have, and I am writing to voice my opposition.

NDIS participants are already doing it tough, many are barely coping, and the increased stress regarding the proposed changes is cruel, unnecessary, and already impacting vulnerable people.

The proposed changes to compliance and engagement requirements are ableist and laughably out of touch with the needs of disabled people.

Additionally, it is hard to trust that any increase to participant interaction with the system will be handled appropriately given that earlier this year, it was revealed that administrative duties had been outsourced to Serco.

What I want the committee to understand is that NDIS participants feel that their wellbeing is being put in jeopardy by a government more concerned with saving money than protecting some of its most vulnerable citizens.
