Dear Committee Secretary and community Affairs,
I have a disability called dyspraxia and global development delay/ intellectual disability this disability was diagnosed at birth..
I am currently a NDIS participant on the NDIS program since it was launched in 2013 under the Gillard government, I am concerned how this bill could affect disability people lives in real time.
I understand that the NDIS needs to be more sustainable for future generations with disabilities, and I also understand that there has been lots of fraud and corruption regarding taxpayers’ money and I also understand these issues need to be dealt with severely. This should not be at the price of the NDIS participants on the NDIS program as it will affect disability people losing all different supports, like mentoring supports to help them build capacity within their local community and allowing them to boost their independence and build their own confidence. This support also allows them to set goals and develop practical skills, along with maintaining a healthy mindset. It will also stop the disability people looking for employment opportunities under the NDIS scheme. Many of these people with disabilities build skills with their employers and or their support workers funded under the NDIS plan.
With this bill it appears that this government is heavily focused on reducing funding or cutting funding all together, I understand the disabled need to prove themselves every six months if their funding has not been allocated properly in the first place or runs out. Also, it seems the management of funds will go out of the hands of the individual. I consider this is grossly unfair on the disability community.
My main concern is that it will make it harder for parents and people ~ith disability. I believe, it should be based on a medical diagnosis and a psychological assessment by a qualified medical expert to give a true assessment rather than just ticking boxes.
I am also concerned that this government has no plan in place for parents and people with disabilities who have been denied access to the NDIS program or they have failed their functional capacity test. This government needs to provide more clarity in how they are going to manage this if they are going to go ahead with this bill
This bill should not be passed for all the reason I have mentioned as this bill does not preserve lives or protect the rights and freedoms for the disabled people as this bill is reckless and dangerous.
I am going to struggle mentally and emotionally if these NDIS supports are going to be removed or cut back significantly. As these supports are going to help me stay on track with keeping myself physically fit within the community. Also, these supports will keep me mentally stable under therapies. If I lose support workers and supports, it will cause me to have more stress and anxiety within life, and it could lead me into having more hospital admissions under the mental health act as

this Albanese government has failed to repair the damage and broken-down heath system within all the states and within all the territories.
The NDIS has saved countless of lives, and it’s saved my life by supporting me and it’s given me the opportunity to enhance my life in so many ways as a disabled person.
I agree that they should go after the fraudsters and the criminals within the NDIS program not the participants.
