I work as an Occupational Therapist across multiple sectors including disability aged care rehab/return to work.Firstly i would like say thank hardwork went into saving Bedford Industries.I have clients spent decades life at Bedford industries it really is centre entire world reasons economic participation friendships sense belonging satisfaction productivity routine.i grave concerns significant proposal cut ndis social &community budget will devastating consequences on supported employment potentially risk existence once again.A lot people incorrectly assumed support comes from Finding Keeping Job section participant’s budgets but not case As per NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Limits page reference Support On job These items available interim measure until new plan developed include necessary ongoing core supports Ongoing support Employment such support provided by Bedford Industries under core social community budget page participants’ budgets which current proposal cuts also many clients who open labour market with some support parts role they manage due difficulties executive functioning or mobility They very concerned proposed cuts to core social&community impact employability optics that typical used trips beach movies theme parks etc fair other participants require funding undertake community tasks privacy dignity expect ourselves Proposed Inclusive Communities Fund totally misses mark respect Group supports obviously smart economical stand point however cases inappropriate functional capacity of participant nature activity itself If you I sustained permanent disability near future sure continue able doctor see therapists go underwear shopping attend dentist place worship parent teacher interviews kids activities others appropriate group support Considering approach cutting the core social and participation budgets if exists implore consider how: a) “Support in Employment” can be quarantined out proposals, b) All participants requiring support for community participation continued provide allocation 1:1 funding respects their privacy. dignity.

I understand that this is a federal issue, and many of you that I have included in this email are state members; however, the impact on our state particularly regarding Bedford Industries as well as Foundational Supports which will eventually roll out; necessitates holistic consideration across all levels.
