Submission to the Senate Community Affairs Committee: NDLS Future Generations Bill 2026
My name is redacted, I am writing as a family member of a person with disability to express my strong opposition to the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill and the broader changes being proposed to the NDIS. Our family has seen firsthand how important the NDIS is in supporting independence, safety, dignity, and participation in the community. While the system is not perfect, it does make meaningful difference allowing persons living disabilities fuller lives more choice opportunity. The committee deeply concerned about reforms will reduce choices control limit access to community participation create additional barriers already face significant challenges These reforms risk undoing years progress towards inclusive equal society. I respectfully urge this committee protect rights individuals disabled ensure continues reflect original purpose principles. I ask that:
- Reject cuts measures reducing social or community participation; Ensure participants families have review appeal challenge decisions affecting their lives wellbeing;- Protect genuine choice including ability choose providers best meet individual needs while maintaining appropriate safeguards. as family member worry these changes could lead greater isolation reduced independent increased stress both participants families Australia should be moving toward inclusion support people disability away from it Please carefully consider concerns do pass ndis future generations bill Kind regards
