Dear Committee- i am writing to express my concerns about the proposed Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Bill. i am the mother of a 24 year old woman who has been lucky to have an NDIS Plan for the past 7 years. This plan has b een life changing for my daughter and has always been carefully constructed by the NDIS Planners, al ways with a view to minimising her funding.The community activities she has participated inhavebeen quotedbyher providers , ap provedb yh er plannersandthe appropriatefunding made available within h ersocial anda ndCommunity fund ing ‘bucket’. My daughterhas no friendsa n dwould not be capableof independentlyleavingth ehouse without hers ocialanda nd Comm unity Funding.O ver th eyearsmyd au g ht era susedthisfundin ga tto: - hav esuppor tathe rplaceo fe mployment- part icipateina rtclassesnavigate he rw ayar roundsh oppingcentreslearn howtocrossroads safely learn busroutes ha veas upportw orker takeha rertherapyappointmentswhentheycannot bereached byp ublictransport acquire employment skills through structured programs fromNDISregisteredproviders attend sporting fixtureswith here sup port provider le arncookingskills practicehere independencebye goingonovernighttripswi thersupp ortproviderando therparticipants .This meaningfulcommunity participationahas allowedm yaughterfeels heshee as full,interesting an dvaredlife,j ust like anyother24yearold. She feels connected and meaningfully engagedinsociety. These supports have helped reduce my daughter’s:
