National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission: Submission No.: 83
Section 1 - Self Management Option
I think self management option shouldn’t exist because there’s too much risk associated with fraudulently using funds. People claim any amount whenever they want regardless if their claims were correct until audited which happens rarely; making everyone plan managed won’t stop fraudulent claims completely but will significantly reduce them making it harder on those doing wrong things like altering invoices or creating fake ones claiming money themselves, or misusing family members’ NDIS funding intended solely for one person while others benefit from it such as free babysitting services provided through a Support worker paid out of an individual participant’s budget, etc., everyone must be planned-managed ensuring all invoices are verified against providers before payment; this would prevent most cases not entirely eliminating every single instance where someone might try taking advantage over another participant. The role played in verifying and approving these payments falls upon Plan Managers who need confirm what support is being offered to whom clearly stating that no other member within same household can use said resources except directly benefiting participants only under consideration.
Section 2 – Budget Cuts Impacting Participants’ Lives Negatively:
Blanket cuts across budgets will cause severe harm especially when social & community access funding gets reduced by half impacting many lives negatively among beneficiaries unable without adequate assistance leaving homes regularly accessing communities safely due mainly to safety concerns related mostly around teenagers aged above ten years old up till early adulthood stage needing continuous care otherwise could lead into dangerous situations involving injuries sustained during incidents caused primarily because they lack proper supervision needed at home.
National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment
Do not kick people off NDIS without adequate alternative supports. I do believe all support workers should be registered, tiered rates are needed based on levels of care provided.
