I am writing to strongly urge Parliament to support the full funding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), ensuring it continues to meet the needs of our disabled community effectively.

Accessible Funding in One Place:

Cutting NDIS funding will force disabled people to seek support through alternative pathways that may not exist or are extremely difficult to access. This creates unnecessary barriers, delays, and confusion, leaving many without the essential assistance they need. A lack of funds does not reduce the number of disabled people; it simply pushes those in need into more desperate situations, increasing hardship and risk. Maintaining a streamlined, single system ensures that all supports are easily accessible, reducing frustration and ensuring timely help for those who rely on it most.

Supports for Community Access and Participation:

  • Funding must prioritize community-based supports that enable disabled people to access public spaces, events, and social activities.
  • Full funding ensures that disabled individuals can participate fully in community life, fostering social inclusion and reducing isolation.
  • Supports like transportation, social programs, and community activities are critical for building belonging and improving mental health.
