I welcome the opportunity to make this submission regarding [the Senate Standing Committee’s discussion] about The National Disability Insurance Scheme amendment bill. My name is redacted*, I am single mother raising two beautiful kids aged ten years old (and seven) who are both enrolled under NDIS. Both have been diagnosed separately but share similar conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder Level II, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders,* Anxiety.* Despite having shared diagnoses they present differently in termsof needs, personalities,** triggers**, strengths** & challenges**** caring for neurodivergent children alone can be rewarding yet extremely demanding* as their disabilities impact almost every aspect of our lives such as schooling appointments community participation sleep behavior management etc., which makes it essential that we receive adequate supports and services through NDIS, such as therapies interventions support groups counseling sessions speech therapy occupational therapy physical therapy art music drama classes social skills training life skill development emotional regulation anxiety reduction stress relief anger control problem solving strategies coping mechanisms self-care techniques mindfulness meditation yoga tai chi dance martial arts sports activities outdoor recreation nature exploration animal-assisted therapy pet visits therapeutic horseback riding equine assisted learning adaptive technology assistive devices communication aids
