this submission is very short. the time period for discussion of these extremely impactful changes (on ndis participants and their families and the greater Australia community)which are enormous and potentially catastrophic, is extremely short. As i do not have the time or capacity to address separate elements, and many many disabled individuals and disability advocacy groups have done this, i will simply say that this legislation changes the entire ethos of the ndis and the PR invoked by the government to turn tabled and disabled Australians against ndis participants is shocking.

I am 60yo. i have been disabled since 18yo (but diagnosed at 12yo). i was accepted into ndis 3 years ago and have personally witnessed the shift in the community from appreciation to neutrality towards the ndis to now a much more critical, negative, sometimes abusive personal-attacks on participants. i have personally experienced reductions in capacity building supports even though my disability caused a stroke last year and i’ve far more and more severe impairments than previously (already determine as severe, permanent and lifelong. i am asking that this legislation not be passed, that the government cease all changes that impact participants directly especially the arbitrary “growth” restrictions which have been estimated to remove over 100,000 people from support. And that the government invest in real consultation with Australians, especially disabled Australians and their informal supports, instead of PR for drastic cuts.
