Submission Regarding Proposed NDIS Changes

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 Submission:1996

Introduction:

I am writing from the perspective of an NDLS family member deeply concerned about proposed changes in the National Disability Insurance System.

Background on My Daughter’s Journey Through Schooling & Beyond:

Before enrolling into school under the NDIS program, she had no idea what opportunities lay ahead after completing schooling; however thanks to this initiative she has been able develop life-skills like confidence, self-reliance alongwith hope towards a better tomorrow. My daughter just finished highschool but still hasn’t started her adult journey yet! She currently participates actively within community settings through various training programs including café work experience where she learns social skills alongside creating products which are sold at local markets thereby becoming more integrated with society rather than feeling isolated or left behind due lack thereof support systems. One dream is to find employment working inside cafes so that they can serve people back again contributing positively toward their communities while giving something meaningful back themselves instead being perceived as someone who doesn’t fit anywhere else. With right kindling and encouragement coupled together with proper guidance provided by way of ongoing funding and assistance offered via NDIS will make it possible achieve such aspirations. The importance placed upon these activities goes beyond mere recreational value since they provide structure daily routines friendships building up communication abilities all leading ultimately towards greater sense belongingness amongst peers alike. However I am deeply worried about potential consequences arising out from reduction in financial resources allocated specifically for those very same purposes mentioned above; as consequence might lead significant decrease in overall quality services received resulting into negative impact on mental health wellbeing among individuals involved directly affected by said changes. NDIS program not only provides necessary aid required but also empowers participants enabling them set goals, contribute meaningfully towards societal development & paving path forward towards brighter future ahead, every single dollar spent under this scheme must be utilized judiciously ensuring maximum benefit derived therefrom. While acknowledging substantial costs associated within implementation process itself government needs considerate approach regarding sustainability issues at hand yet reducing essential supports should never become priority option rather focus ought shifted onto cutting down unnecessary expenses incurred through travel administration etc., thereby maintaining balance between both aspects without compromising core principles underlying entire framework established initially.
