Submission to the NDIS Bill 2026

My submission is articulating that this consultation process is not a fair nor valid process and needs to be recommenced in an appropriate manner.

6 business days to review hundreds of pages of information, largely in waffly legalese? Many of the people this bill affects require communication supports – nobody shows that this information is being provided. I am unable to read all of the information based on the time provided – and I am not one of the disabled people accessing the NDIS.

The submissions website says “we are committed to ensuring that everyone who wishes to participate in the Committee’s inquiry”.

Where are the forms in Easy English? Or even a tokenistic ‘Easy Read’ (which is still above the language literacy level of many people effected by these changes)?

Many of the people impacted do not possess the skills to navigate the demands of the website it is presented on.

Anyone who knows what actual communication accessibility looks like can tell you how inaccessible this consultation process is.

Sneaking this legislation through in such a rushed timeframe in a way where people who are impacted by it - Do not have time to read through all of the contents - Do not have access to the appropriate measures to ensure they can access the concent is disgraceful and discriminatory. This is not co-design. This is not real consultation. This is not fair.

I write to you without further information about the proposed changes of the bill itself. As an allied health business owner, my time has been stretched to the limit from years of prize freezing which is eroding my ability to keep the lights on.

You need to provide realistic timeframes for this and stop seeking to exclude disabled people from the process.

This is a farce.
