National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 2012
I am not someone on the NDIS but I am someone who is disabled that has thought in the past of going onto the NDIS to help pay for some of my supports. As a disabled person I very much see the value in the lives of disabled Australians. The NDIS allows disabled people in Australia to interact with the wider world and do things like get out of bed, go out into the wider community and work, all things that with the supports that the NDIS provides they would not be able to do.
The changes in this bill will greatly increase the administrative and compliance when it already takes considerable effort to both get on the NDIS and then once on mange everything required. These proposed changes strip the ability for participants to challenge their plans or ask for a review and instead remove or severely limit the involvement of human oversight and replace it with automated systems. In essence this robodebtify the NDIS. This will then remove the flexibility needed due to peoples individual needs ant the differing of symptoms that someone might have despite having the same disability as another person. Then on top of all this the minister of the day is being given the power to strip participants of their supports without having to interact with said participant.
The way that this bill is been drafted has been done so in a way to kick disabled off the NDIS and removing the life sustaining supports instead of tackling the mismanagement by successive Labor and Liberal led governments. It also fails to stop the rorts done by service providers and instead places the blame on disabled people. If a change needs to be made to the NDIS to stop any rorting it should be done by addressing the increased costs that providers ask of those on the NDIS as they do so because of the privatised nature of the NDIS as they see it as a handout from the government. Then there have been unnecessary spending by the NDIS and the NDIA all due to challenging disabled people asking for supports that they should just be given.
Then in the process of doing this disabled people are instead being forced onto programs that do not exist, thus stripping them of necessary supports and placing the costs associated with them on the disabled person themselves, their families, close friends or a combination of all these things. Due to the extra costs that disabled people need to be able to live it will cost them more than what they can afford. While it is still unknown what kinds of disabilities will be removed from the NDIS, this bill risks removing people whose primary disability that they are on the scheme for but it’s other disabilities that they may have which they need support for.
The proposed changes to the NDIS will rip the supports that many on the NDIS need to survive away from them. It will mean that disabled people will clog up our hospitals and eventually left to die, all due to not having the supports that are critically needed to provide a proper quality of life. In essence these laws are eugenics in action. They are saying that we, the Australian people and government cannot afford to provide you with supports that will allow you to live as we have other things that we need to pay for.
