Dear Community Affairs Legislation Committee,

My name is and I am an independent support worker in our local community. I am writing because I am genuinely concerned about the proposed NDIS changes and the impact they could have on both participants and support workers like myself. -

I work closely with people who rely on consistent and trusted support every single day. Many of my clients have built strong relationships with independent workers because they feel comfortable, understood, and supported by someone familiar. I worry these changes will take away flexibility and choice from participants who already face enough challenges in their daily lives.

I am especially concerned about the possibility of reduced funding and tighter restrictions around support. The people I support are not abusing the system — they use their funding for important daily support, social connection, independence, and quality of life. Without the right support in place, many people could become isolated, overwhelmed, or unable to cope with daily tasks.

As an independent support worker, I am also worried about my future employment and whether I will be able to continue doing the work I care deeply about. Independent workers play an important role in providing personalised and flexible care, particularly in regional and local communities where participants may already have limited options.

I ask that you please listen to the concerns being raised by participants, families, carers, support workers before supporting these changes. The NDIS should continue to protect participant choice, independence, and access to the support people genuinely need.
