Protecting social participation and review rights (Individual advocacy)

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2058

To the Senate Community Affairs Committee,

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed NDIS Future Generations Bill and to raise serious concerns about the broader changes being proposed to the NDIS.

As a member of the community who values the dignity, safety, inclusion, and independence of people with disability, I believe these proposed changes risk undermining the rights and wellbeing of NDIS participants. In particular, the reforms appear likely to reduce choice and control, restrict access to community participation, and reverse important progress toward equality and inclusion.

I respectfully urge the Committee to protect the rights of people with disability and ensure the NDIS continues to uphold its original principles. Specifically, I ask the Committee to:

  • Reject proposed cuts and any measures that reduce opportunities for social and community participation.

  • Guarantee strong rights to review and appeal so participants can challenge decisions that significantly affect their lives.

  • Protect genuine choice and control, including the ability for participants to engage providers of their choosing—whether registered or unregistered—while maintaining appropriate safeguards.

I urge the Committee to carefully consider these concerns and not pass the NDIS Future Generations Bill.

Kind Regards,
