Hi, my name is I’m an RN of 30 years who trained and worked in Australia as an RN. For the last 15 years Ive worked in the USA in 3 states, currently in Connecticut. I’ve always admired Australias healthcare system and all that the government does to help - people remain healthy, stay at home out of long term care facilities and provide universal healthcare services for all, no matter your financial capabilities or immigration status and more importantly your access to health insurance. This is a luxury for way too many in this country. People with disabilities are struggling.

Being visited by a human healthcare professional can never be compared in efficiency to an automated process. There are way too many holes that automation can’t address. What about English as second language for clients in the community, My MIL is Greek and just had an home OT assessment and this needed to be factored in for cognitive assessment as she just didn’t understand the question in English. My Mother who passed 2 years ago was mostly blind, had dementia and had good days and bad days. Her social support mattered immensely. What about the condition of someone’s home and laying eyes on it? Is it really safe? The human factor can’t be replaced by AI or tick boxes.

I travel back to Perth regularly. My niece is an OT. I talk to family and friends in healthcare and see this is heading in the wrong direction. So much of the US healthcare system is electronic, automated and tick boxes which I use daily. It’s a mess, doesn’t give a clear picture and never will.

Stop trying to save money and keep people safe.

Don’t be like the U.S…. Be better!
