Mum of a boy with cerebral palsy concerned about loss of NDIS plan

To whom it may concern,

My name is and I am a mum of a little boy with cerebral palsy.

For me I worry about the change the ndis will bring. I have finally been able to return to work after years of relentless appointments, no support, full on therapy that felt like a fulltime job. After receiving support work in the last plan I have been able to return to work, take the work load off me completely for therapy appointments and help bring a second income into the house. I have also been able to get off Centrelink which has been able to save the government money. In returning to work I am able to pay taxes to help go toward my own sons ndis plan.

If I lose Any of the plan that I have currently for my son I will no longer be able to work. I will go back to relying entirely on Centrelink again. I will be burnt out, drained and stressed again. Being able to stand on my own 2 feet and earn an income with the support of ndis means that I can feel freedom and support that I haven’t felt in a long time.

I plead with you that you consider the every day Australians who are battling week to week with the cost of living crisis who are in desperate need for the ndis to stay as is to be able to work. We are not the people you need to be going after. The therapist, support workers who steal from our packages, the huge amount of report writing that we need to pay to do even though the delegates don’t read it, even getting rid of the local area contacts for ndis because most of the time trying to contact one of them is impossible and we end up dealing with ndis directly regardless.

You will find that all families are grateful for their packages, count every cent that is spent and try to make the dollars stretch as long as possible, we are not the people you need to be going after to save money, 160,000 families are going to be left with no support which worries me that we will have more outcomes like the beautiful Perth family.
