My name is Nick. I am an NDIS participant and a member of a participant reference group, where we provide feedback to our networks and communities about what works does well or poorly in terms of services provided under this scheme; as such my views are informed from both personal experience as someone who has used the NDIS myself but more importantly through being part of various groups where people share their experiences directly within those same networks and communities. The NDIS plays critical role enabling me lead active life not just personally but others too; hence why proposed changes so important making submission today.

Impact on My Ability to Contribute to the Community

My goal is to do more and give back; however, adequate supports from the NDIs allow me to achieve it. Without those necessary supports, it seems like participants outside system exploit them while driving change at cost to us. The NDIS allows me to mentor other community members actively; support workers make a significant difference here if reduced capacity diminishes contribution ability.
