National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 2121

I am David Foley of Dubbo NSW. I have been a career educator in NSW schools and TAFE. As an educator and a friend of people who live with significant disabilities I have seen the positive impact the NDIS has delivered to our most vulnerable people. Residing in and working across rural NSW for 40 years until my recent retirement has afforded me deep insights into the isolation and patchy support from the past and how greatly the NDIS has changed lives. While I appreciate and support the NDIS being sustainable program which it grew beyond its initial target clientele; some providers do act unethically, however proposed changes to reel-in budget for this program will significantly cut support needed by those needing connected dignified & supported lives; The bundling social community participation arbitrary cost cutting exercise effectively cuts social support by half impacting devastatingly, My personal friend Downs Syndrome born same year as daughter attended university made choices further study undertook fulfilling work built career importantly lived independently fabulous full life young adult My friend downs syndrome unable chase similar trajectories like daughter utilises funds under Social Community Participation meaningful living local community undertake supported experiences play touch football competitions happy dignity wonderful person Please ensure most vulnerable receiving NDIS support not hurt blunt attempts save money Focus fraudulent providers recipients issues can be supported through medical services Regards David Foley Welcome publish name comments.
