deeply concerned about the potential impact on individuals with disabilities, particularly those who rely heavily on informal supports.

Dear Committee Secretariat

My name is and I live in Western Australia.

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment Bill in its current form.

I urge the Committee to reject or heavily amend this Bill based on the following concerns.

  • Erosion of Choice: I do not agree with this bill taking the decision making power away from the person who understands their disability best!

  • Funding Reductions: I strongly disagree with the broad budget suggested powers that threaten to leave complex, fluctuating conditions without adequate safety nets.

  • Lack of Guardrails: I do not agree that vital details regarding needs assessments and spending limit is are left to ministerial discretion rather than protected inside the legislation.

If these changes pass as written my family will face huge issues from inadequate support to the complete burnout of informal supports to financial hardship.

I have two family members that stand to be dramatically affected by the Bill as it stands and it is horrifying thinking of the possible effects on our family.

My husband has a Traumatic Brain Injury from an accident and my 24 year old son has AuDHD. We are finally getting both of them using support workers to help build capacity within in the community which if funding from this is removed they both will suffer and withdraw from life and the community they live and belong too.

The roll down effects of this limit in their plans would be an increase in isolation, depression and the return of suicidal ideation.

I seriously believe this government is trying to reduce the numbers of disabled people by simply removing them from this earth.

The NDIS needs fixing but not through this Bill in its current form. Please do not pass these reforms without restoring full appeal rights and enforcing mandatory co-design.
