My name is and I live in , NSW. I am the mother of who is 13 years old and has Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

I care about the NDIS as it has helped improve my sons life since 2016 when he joined the scheme. He has been able to attend Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and more recently Music Therapy.

I am opposed to the new NDIS Bill. This bill will give too much power to the minister and that is not a good idea.

The NDIS has meant that my son has received the support of Speech Pathologists to help him improve his communication, so he can express his wants and needs to his parents.

The NDIS has meant that my son has become more independent to be able to do things for himself such as occupational therapy helped him to be able to dress himself.

If the NDIS doesn’t support my son won’t continue to develop, improve his life and become more independent. In the near future he will need support from the NDIS to be more social and help him make friends. If he does make friends he will become depressed and isolated from the community.

As my son is an only child I am most worried that he will have no one to look out for him and support him when is older. The NDIS would be able to support and look out for him when myself and his father are no longer able to.

The bill in its current form is harmful and should not be passed by parliament. You are playing with disabled people’s lives and futures. My son’s life and future.

Disabled people should not be targeted to reduce the government’s deficit. Stop giving money to the Australian rugby league so that they can have a team in PNG. Stop giving money to the USA for nuclear subs that we may never get. Put a tax on gas exports.
