My daughter has always had a different experience of the world, but her differences suddenly became glaringly apparent when she began Prep. it was only through my initiative \nin booking her with developmental paediatrician earlier that we were able secure assessment autism, she diagnosed year later all paid privately because found money While trying figuring apply funding researched got waiting list secured place OT $235 each fortnight paying mortgage raising two other children ineligible medical needs week after gave up our OT place could no longer afford it ndis funding came through now working securing places speech therapy OT risk being booted off scheme God knows what program as government apparently not figured this out early interventions where can choose right therapists child made big difference ability recognize body/emotional cues start navigate communication differences and have idea any will ripped away because may deemed “not autistic enough” deserve support And about begins puberty symptoms differences again hit spike along their therapy needs Where turn then I do seriously question timing nature changes indicate like mine completely lose current supports popped into exactly group therapies school-based resources already breaking point child been on waitlist nearly years generic parenting courses Government hasn’t figure yet Please please listen disability advocacy groups Listen families value in current scheme best continue to support them truly before rushing ill-planned changes akin pushing people cliff saying ‘we’ll find some sort cushion you land promise!’
